These are a comprehensive set of notes covering all the topics in the Admin Law course at Monash University. I provide a succinct summary of the general legal principles, citing the relevant legal authority, and give a detailed yet succinct summary for each case. I also include some cases not cited on the usual university reading guide, but are referred to in past exams, giving you the maximum opportunity to impress in your answer and achieve the best result. Good students have clear notes that make sense to them. I absolutely loved the public policy/law interaction with this unit and I provide some good insights in the notes derived from lots of extra reading that is sure to help you out!
Topics covered include Merits Review, Judicial Review, Privative Clauses, Grounds for Judicial Review (Ultra Vires Narrow/Broad, + others under s 5 ADJRA), Jurisdictional Error, Hearing Rule, Bias Rule, Remedies + more!
I am a final year Law/Arts student at Monash, pursuing a clerkship at a top tier international law firm in July. Over the years I’ve perfected the art of writing good law notes, and I really hope these will help you out!
